By losing the independence that one holds, one is denied of his character. The Unknown Citizen, by W.H. Auden, exemplified the thought that visually impaired understanding of the morals of society achieves personality misfortune. The sonnet showed that He, the anonymous resident, had complied with the qualities and convictions of his general public, For in all that he did he served the Greater Community (Auden 883). By complying with the ethics of his general public, He could never again be a profligate and depend in his own qualities. He should control his brain to the standards of the Greater Community and no one will be equipped for segregating him from different individuals from the populace. Distinction is a distinctive trait of people and without this feeling of uniqueness, one is someone else in the group. T.S. Elliot applied this idea best in The Hollow Men, where he depicted the men as, Shape without structure, conceal without shading, (Elliot 707). Eliot depicted the acclim ated men through an embodiment of Shape. Any shape is obvious, yet it do not have the characteristics, shading and structure, that make it novel. The men are genuinely present, yet they come up short on the individual idea that made every one unmistakable. The men had lost their human attributes, had formed into a tedious society, and did not have the office to be a withdrawn individual. As individuals separated from segregation and clung to traditionalism, an increased society of blind travelers appeared. Described as migrants, the acclimated meander erratically, deficient with regards to their own convictions as direction. This absence of self-direction rendered society tedious making a living space like an old purposeful anecdote, monkey see, monkey do. This plan is obvious in T.S. Elliots work, The Hollow Men. He depicts the residents as straightforward creatures that have no particular qualities. He states,We are the empty menWe are the stuffed menLeaning togetherHeadpiece loaded up with straw. Too bad! (Elliot 707). The men in this sonnet delineate the ever-present travelers in the public arena. They have no close to home inclination or thought; society stuffs them with guidelines on the proper behavior. These men move as a group and follow every others activities, obviously inclining together. In a world progressively efficient, an absence of through and through freedom existed in all parts of culture, making a feeling of oppressive standard over the individuals. In the Unknown Citizen, He does what the general public instructs him to do. He must choose between limited options, with the goal for society to acknowledge him, he should cling to standards. Auden reviews When there was harmony, he was for harmony; when there was war, he went. (Auden 883). Odds are that He didn't generally bolster the societys position on specific issues. He might not have bolstered the war, yet it is human instinct to take a stab at acknowledgment. As one undertakings for acknowledgment, one dislike what society forces, yet one should hesitantly acknowledge it so as to keep up a citizenship of society. Indeed, even the seemingly insignificant details that society requires are unconsciously acknowledged.
